Welcome to the USC Facilities Home page! I hope the information you find here helps you understand who we are, what we do, and how we can help you.

Our role at USC is to ensure a comfortable and safe environment for our students, faculty and staff and to assist you in any way we can!

It is our responsibility to:

  • manage all facilities design and construction projects for the eight growing campuses in the USC System;
  • fulfill (an average) 25,000 work requests and 500 new project requests for the Columbia campus each year;
  • repair anything and everything (except computers and phones) in 6.1 M (million) square feet of academic and research buildings on the Columbia campus;
  • provide skilled crafts specialists to assist our Housing, Athletics, and other auxiliary departments as needed;
  • maintain an award winning 480-acre urban landscape;
  • preserve the historical integrity of 71 buildings listed on the National Register;
  • and operate five (5) utility plants.

We accomplish all this with a professional staff of Engineers, Architects, Crafts Professionals, Business Support staff, and Administrative experts. We, along with professionals from the Housing, Athletics, Parking and Public Safety departments, take great pride in our accomplishments. Our combined departments manage over 12 million square feet of buildings, 570 acres of campus, parks, parking lots, athletic and intramural fields, and equestrian facilities that are the University of South Carolina, Columbia.
